Dents and my wife drives it! I really like my Lightforce ‘s, they work very well as many of you know. I have been thinking of adding more lights, but I was worried about the added strain on my charging system. I started researching and found that it was not going to be a “plug and play” event to add them to my ‘s, but there seemed to be enough info that I was willing to take a shot at it. The idea of more light while asking less of my charging system was too much for me to pass up. This writeup will cover what is needed to retrofit the lights, not the actual installation of the rest of the HID conversion kit. I should also say that this writeup should also work for the Blitz lights as they use the same housing. I used Lexel and a caulking gun Obligatory Disclaimer: I am providing this write up for illustrative purposes only. Perform at your own risk.

Posted 27 November – Pancake fans are extremely minimal current draw. Normal headlight bulbs are watts. X2 is a minimal of 16watts less than a stock setup. In addition – I just posted in the other thread and thought would share here. I have them both in my sleds In addition, if you have lighter controls With the LEDs no relay to wire into the wiring, no delay in waiting for the lights to come to full lumens and literally plug into the headlight connector that is already there and put the bulb in the lamp and you done.

I am switching to LEDs. The LEDs are the superior products. Here is the information I have obtained on each product.. The Ultra Stars are a nice, bright, white light. The downfall is they are not a rough service type of bulb. I would only get about a year out of them in my Tacoma, went through about 4 per year, per sled.

October 20, Hi, I’m new to the fourm. My HID light kit came from theretrofitsource.

Xenon HID Headlights (High-Intensity-Discharge) is a very popular option for headlights systems. Xenon HID Headlights will provide you with a big light output increase on your vehicle, enhancing security & .

Easy installation in general goes like done as described below. After disconnecting power to the two headlamps and after removing the bulb access covers of the low beam, high beam or both bulb access covers, drill a small hole in the removed cover. The HID-Xenon bulb wire is passed through this hole for your headlamp upgrade.

On the wire is a supplied adjustable tight rubber waterproof grommet to be fitted into the hole. Next, the HID-Xenon bulb is fitted into the headlamp’s base and locked into position via the factory locking device. No cutting of wiring is required on the installation. Reinstall the access panel and close it. Secure the small ballast to a convenient location in the motorbay. Finally attach power to the headlamp in the normal manner and the upgrade is completed.

Headlamp realignment is recommended but only required if you have removed the headlamp during the upgrade which sometimes can be avoided model and side dependant. It takes about hours to complete the installation. No special tools are required. Each upgrade kit is easily reversible or transferable!

Next, it’s time to remove the old bulbs and put the new ones in. You now have a nice big space that looks like this in the area of the drivers side where the battery used to be: You are now left with this: It will swing up and out from it’s retainer. It will remain attached. Now remove the stock bulb assembly by twisting and pulling gently until it releases:

HID lights do not work with reversed polarity. Make sure the plugs are securely placed and that it is firmly intact. If you have a bi-xenon kit; you should connect the ballasts to the relay harness.

Fog lights are aptly named because they can save responsible drivers a ton of grief in low visibility conditions such as fog, snow, rain, or pitch black darkness. To be most effective, fog lights should be mounted in a location on the vehicle as low to the ground as possible. Once they’re turned on, the light they produce travels further and covers the surface of the road more clearly – allowing potholes to be detected sooner so blown tires can be avoided.

Fog lights illuminate dark edges of the road where headlights can’t. Fog is typically less dense closer to the ground. Because fog lights are mounted lower on the vehicle, they encounter less glare and can light the path ahead much further. Unlike foglights, headlights point straight ahead and can cause glare by reflecting light from fog or snow directly back into a driver’s eyes. Because fog lights are aimed slightly to the side by nature, they don’t reflect light from snow or fog directly back into the driver’s eyes the way headlights do.

Fog lights also illuminate dark edges of the road where headlights can’t, and that wider swath of light allows safer driving through earlier detection of deer and other wildlife. Besides being a great safety feature, modern fog lights are a great choice for adding style to the front of your vehicle. Choose factory OEM style replacements with clear lens covers or ones that add a blue or amber hue if you prefer. Fog lights designed for factory openings are available in a variety of pixilated LED designs for those that prefer the look.

There is nothing fancy about a 4 pin relay. The simplest way I can describe a relay is an electronic switch. This activates the internal solenoid that then connects 30 to In our application, we will hook up the OEM headlight plug to 85 and With this setup the relay can pull all the power it needs with no danger to the factory wiring. Here is the socket for our 4 pin relay. Most sockets will work for a 4 and 5 pin relay.

Remove the center wire from the socket and discard.

Most light fixtures have two electrical wires with colored insulation and a copper ground wire. An enthusiastic homeowner can save the cost of a professional by knowing which wires connect to which. With this knowledge, you or a family member can do the wiring connections for one or more lights. If the breakers aren’t labeled, ask a family member to turn on the light with the switch as you cycle through the breakers until it goes off.

You’ll see white wires at one side of the switch and black wires attached at the other side. One of the black and white wires goes to the light fixture. The other black and white wires are the electrical circuit for the switch. If the light can be turned on or off from switches at each side of the room, you’ll see a blue wire that connects the electrical circuits for three-way switches.

I think most hobbyist growers would be happier with a W, or even two W lights, over a W. HPS lights can be used for the entire grow and will still get great results. The power and color spectrum of HPS grow lights tend to get better yields than any other type of grow light for the amount of electricity used, with the possible exception of some of the modern LED grow lights.

I knew that if I upgraded to HID grow lights, I could spend less time worrying about adjusting lights, and more time on learning new, better ways to improve yields, potency, and taste. Either one can be used for the whole grow, though most growers who choose just one opt to use HPS for the whole grow.

The higher you go in colour temperature the lower the actual amount of light that is put onto the road. It aslo gives you the highest contrast ratio. So what colour do you choose? If you are mainly doing city driving, then we recommend choosing k. We agree with this assessment ourselves, since k has the higher contrast ratio.

So if you are doing a lot of country driving, then choose k to give you the best chance of spotting animals. We should also advise that over k OEM standard may be illegal in your area. Please check your local road laws prior to purchase. Decide if you want a 35watt or 55watt HID system. Most standard halogen light bulbs in your vehicle are 55watts. Another word sometimes used to describe the amount of light output is “Candlepower”.

The difference between using “lumens” and “Candlepower” to describe the brightness is that “Candlepower” also takes into account the optics of the light including reflectors, lens etc whereas “lumens” is simply a measurement of the light output without any optics. Since optics vary from different light sources, there is no linear conversion from candlepower to lumens or vice versa. So for the pupose of discussing brightness in HID kits, we only use “lumens”.

If your HID is outputting a dim-bright-dim-bright pattern or even worse, an on-off-on-off pattern, it can also classified as HID flickering problem. Different reasons can lead to flickering problem, but in most case, a capacitor or warning canceller can solve the problem. Let us explain in more detail so you guys know what is actually happening with the HID kit and what is our solution to solve the problem.

Here are couple youtube videos to show what is flickering problem: Look at the fog lights from the passenger side: HID flickering problem on the headlights: A more serious HID flickering problem on the headlights: Why is the HID flickering? Suitability HID lights are high-output, low-resistance devices. To operate correctly, they require ballasts to control their current and voltage. If your vehicle is not designed for HID lights, the resistance of its electrical system may result in fluctuating power being sent to the lights, causing them to flicker.

Daylight Running Lights If your vehicle has daytime running lights, only 20 watts or so of power will be sent to the lights rather than the 35 watts required for them to operate correctly.
